Why is this important?
The California Child Passenger Safety (CPS) law might be significantly different from those in your home state or country and of course when you drive in California you are still responsible for following the law. To help with this, rental car agencies in California are required to 1) inform you of this Law, and 2) provide you with a certified child safety restraint (car seat) for your rental vehicle, it is up to you to properly and safely install the car seat and make sure it is appropriate for your child. Because children heights, weights, ages are all different, equally are the requirements among the various types and car seat makes, and motor vehicles. Each motor vehicle has specific child safety requirements. Therefore one must follow the instructions in the owner's manual of the vehicle and manufacturer instructions of the car seat. Remember that 96% of parents feel they are using their car seat correctly and their children are buckled up correctly, but 3 out of 4 are not correct. Pro Car Seat Safety can answer your questions and install your child's car seat to make sure your visit to California is a safe one. Call 323-491-6197.

If they are unable to be properly buckled in this way, they must ride in a booster seat so the lap belt is on the child’s lap and the shoulder belt crosses the center of their chest. Most children need a booster seat until they are between 10-12 years of age, depending on the vehicle and height of child. The driver and all ages must be properly buckled up. For each child under 16 not properly secured, the driver (and parent if in the car) can be fined more than $475 and 1-point on their driving record. |
